My first blog....

For the past five decades, this VW shop has been a home for the aircooled bugs, busses, Things, Ghia's, Squarebacks, well all of the different models have made their way through here at some point. The smell of old horsehair seats, motor oil, and exhaust is a common scent at the shop, and has been for what seems like forever. I've watched so many enthusiasts come through these doors, some with their very first porject car, and others who have been a part of the VW family for longer than we've been open. 

But today, something special happened. Today the future of Volkswagen pulled into the lot- silently

The ID. Buzz Vw's all-electric revival of the beloved microbus, has officially arrived. Behind the wheel was someone I've known for years. An old customer, and friend Billy.

He had just left the dealership with his new ride, and drove right to the shop to show it off, and let me take it for a ride. I was working on an old Vanagon when he arrived, and was quite dirty. I couldnt clean up fast enough to rush out and check it out. I covered the new seat with my cleanest seat covering, and hopped in. 

When I sat in the driver seat of the new Buzz, I couldn't help but reflect on how much has changed over the years, how much the vehicles have evolved, how much the industry has changed, and even the way we think about transportation. However, what hasn't changed is the friendships built around these vehicles, and the love for driving, and the open road. Carburated or electric, we're still writing our story with the VW.
